Jin aka The Emcee
Album : The Rest Is History
Release date : October 19, 2004
Label : Virgin Records

Cutomer review :
Jin is a great freestyler. His battles on 106 and Park on BET were amazing and becoming the second rapper to be retired on the show is a great feat. However, IMO, the day he signed with Ruff Ryders/Virgin Records was when it went down. His album kept getting delayed due to the tracks not really "mainstream" enough. Finally, it debuted in November 2004 and it could have been better.

The tracks that I liked on here are "Love Story", "Cold Outside", "Thank You", "I Gotta Love", and "Learn Chinese." These tracks are the ones where Jin shows his abilities and different from the other, more commericalized songs. In "Cold Outside", Jin talks about not being a thug or killer, which is refreshing in today’s hip-hop world. It also has a nice beat and wonderful guest appearance from Lyfe. "I Gotta Love" is a fun song with guest appearance Kanye West giving him a dope beat(also, Kanye doesn’t really say much on this song, which is a little odd but gives it up for Jin to shine)"Thank You" is probably the best track on the album. In it, he thanks all the people who got him here, and wants them to be there when he makes it to the top.

This album could have been shortened and get rid of the skits and commercialized songs(like "Senorita" for example). Maybe it would have sold better if Virgin could have actually picked a single.

Now with Jin leaving Ruff Ryders and changing his name to The Emcee, maybe success can finally come. A new album is supposed to come out at the end of the year and based on the two songs he’s released ("Top 5" and "One Hundred Copies") it sounds like it’ll be better than his debut album.
