Review:
Liberty City, Miami-bred femme fatale rapper Jacki-O will release her Poe Boy/TVT
Records debut album, POE LITTLE RICH GIRL on October 26, 2004. “This has
been a long time coming, after being scheduled to release with another label
and transitioning to TVT , I’m excited to finally see the album in-stores.”
From her first single, “Nookie”, which ignited the charts last summer
to the Timberland-produced follow-up "Slow Down", she blazed the charts
by disarming audiences with her sexuality and formidable lyrical skills. Her
recognition came at this year’s BET Awards, when she was nominated in
Best Female Rapper category. A testament to her buzz came when the popular urban
fashion line, Indigo Red made her the principle model for their Spring ’04
national billboard campaign.
On the album’s
lead single “Fine” featuring platinum duo Ying Yang Twins, Jacki-O
flows
back and forth with the zany Twins enticing her male fans. The 17-track disc
features several standout tracks including: the popular mixtape gem, “Champion”
with Trick Daddy; the vocally versatile “Pretty” showcasing Jacki-O
singing ability; the Jazzy Pha produced “Sugar Walls” and “Sleeping
with the Enemy” featuring Betty Wright; an admonishment to men about the
power of women, which she snaps “You don’t trust me with the accounts,
counting books and s*&t/But you trust me with your life/cause every night
I cook.” With quick-witted lyrical delivery, girl-power anthems and unapologetic
sexuality this POE LITTLE RICH GIRL will soon become the Queen of the South.
POE LITTLE RICH GIRL is one of the many upcoming releases from TVT Records. Currently in stores: hip-hop super-group, 213 (comprised of Snoop Dogg, Warren G, Nate Dogg), hip-hop soul songstress Teedra Moses and Cuban-American lyricist Jacki-O. Expected to hit stores later this year: a new album from multi-platinum group Lil Jon & The East Side Boyz. Upcoming urban releases for 2005 include the first R&B Crunk artist Oobie and Lil’ Jon-protégé Chyna Whyte, a female rapper with vicious rhymes and incredible lyrical dexterity.
