This is one of many "Hits" compilations to arrive on the scene in the past five years, yet it stands out for its wide mix of smooth ballads, median quality R&B, great dance, rap, and even a touch of carribean reggae. The first track "I Wish" is a pleasant treat with its mid-tempo R&B harmonies and a short yet sweet cameo from well-known rapper LL Cool J. The two artists blend effortlessly in this song co-written and performed by newcomer Carl Thomas. Track three is by female rapper Pink who will probably fall off the scene as fast as she entered with her bland renditions of the new genre of "hard-core female rappers". Donnell Jones’ "U Know What’s Up" has one of the best tunes with this dance song with a riff so catchy I guarantee you’ll be singing it all day. This one is my pick. Track five is memorable with Angie Stone’s "No More Rain In This Cloud", sampling from Gladys Knights’"Neither One of Us",a "self-help" inspirational song about unrequited love. TLC’s "Unpretty"... can’t go wrong with them.

Faith Evans’ smooth crooning on "All Night Long" featuring the infamous "Puff Daddy" is a mellow groove everyone will enjoy. Tyrese, the gentleman we all know from the "Coca-Cola" commercials has a sweet, but forgettable ballad with "Sweet Lady" The underrated Deborah Cox is over-flowing with vocal skills on a duet with R.L from Next. You may remember her beautiful ballad released in 1999 "Nobody’s Supposed To Be Here". Once you hear "We Can’t Be Friends" on this CD, you may be compelled to check out her previous works, they are worth a listen. The final track on the CD is by Kelis titled "Caught Out There". This very loud but good song is about worthless, cheating men and boasts a chorus of "I HATE YOU SO MUCH RIGHT NOW !" It is strangely reminiscent of Alanis Morrissettes’ "You Oughtta Know". Over all this compilation has something for everyone. Pick this one up...you’ll be glad you did.
