Bubba Sparxxx
Album : Deliverance
Realase date : September 16, 2003
Label : Interscope Records

Customer Review :
As far as overall albums go, Bubba Sparxxx seems to have an unfortunate problem. People buy his album the first month it’s out and then it’s forgotten about. Check Dark Days, Bright Nights, which debuted at #3 on the charts but then after a month it wasn’t even in the top 100. Perhaps Bubba set the bar too high ; maybe it isn’t the best idea to call yourself a "f’n legend" on your very first song ?

Now, this album, Deliverance, has some high points and some low points. Lyrically, Bubba sounds fine, but sometimes the song structure gets messed up. The beginning of the album contains possibly the best songs : "Jimmy Mathis" and "Comin’ Round". But then come four questionable songs in a row : "She Tried", "Nowhere" (with Kiley Dean), "Overcome" and "Warrant". "Nowhere" is aptly titled because the song goes, well, nowhere, and "She Tried" features a hook by Ryan Tedder, and he sounds like he went to singing school with Eamon.

There are still some great songs to be found on here though, like "Take a Load Off", "Like It Or Not" (with Sleepy Brown), and the title track. But when Bubba joins up with Organized Noize, he hits ("New South") and misses ("Back In the Mud" — well, production-wise, anyway). Speaking of production, since this album is mostly overseen by Timbaland, the beats are exceptional, which makes it good for bumpin’ in your ride. While it’s not quite as stellar an album as I’d hoped, Deliverance still delivers.
