Grand Theft Auto IV Tops $500 Million In 1st Week Sales

Take-Two's “Grand Theft Auto IV” has lived up to the hype and raked in more than $500 million in its first week in stores.

The highly anticipated title sold more than 6 million units worldwide, including 3.6 million units on its opening day.

The game, which follows Eastern European immigrant-turned gangster Niko Bellic on crime missions around a fictional Liberty City, has received stellar ratings along with criticism for its violent content.

50 Cent is working on a partnership with News Corp and Myspace

You know that 50 Cent has already proven to be a clever business man with his stake in Vitamin Water bringing him $100 million after the company sold to Coca Cola. But what you don't know he's still working hard and is in talks with Murdoch's News Corp on selling a stake of his 50 Cent Brand to the company.

The partnership is reportedly worth $300 million and would include 50's music, books and concerts, as well as his G-Unit Records label and artists.

This deal would help would help News Corp launch the company's label MySpace Records with 50 Cent and his G-Unit roster eventually moving to this new home.

Eurweb also reports that as a part of the deal News Corp will acquire his online community ThisIs50.com, will market and sell the rapper's touring and will house G-Unit book imprint and music publishing for Fifty and his artists.

Half the deal is said to be in stock, which would make 50 Cent one of the largest shareholders of News Corp. The deal is expected to be finalized next year, after the rapper fulfills his contract requirements with Interscope Records.

Immortal Technique Readies New LP

The politically charged rapper Immortal Technique is prepping the release of his highly anticipated album The 3rd World this June. The follow up to 2003's Revolutionary Vol. 2, The 3rd World, marks the rapper's third studio album and first album in five years.

While on his hiatus, Immortal Technique released several freestyles and singles via the net, including "Bin Laden" featuring Mos Def and Eminem, "Watch Out," (over Rick Ross' "Hustlin'") and a music video for Akir's "Treason."

"This album is a collective effort by myself and DJ Green Lantern to merge that New York East Coast hardcore hip-hop sound with the global struggle that exists around the world," Tech said. "The conditions that affect the hood in America are just a small piece of a much larger group of issues that is consuming every country on the face of the earth right now. This project, was made to blend the streets here with the streets from The 3rd World."

Remy Ma Gets Eight Years In Prison

Remy Ma has been sentenced to eight years in prison for the shooting of a woman outside a Manhattan nightclub.

The sentence was handed down to 26-year-old Remy Smith at the Manhattan Criminal Court yesterday (May 13) for charges of assault, weapon possession and attempted coercion stemming from the shooting of Makeda Barnes-Joseph in July 2007. Smith is said to have become enraged when $3000 went missing from her purse when the pair left a New York nightclub.

In related news, Smith's planned wedding at Rikers Island to rapper Papoose was postponed on Monday (May 12) after correction officers claimed Papoose tried to sneak a handcuff key into the prison.

T.I.'s Sets August Release Date For Paper Trail

T.I. recently revealed the release date of his upcoming fifth solo album titled Paper Trail.

According to Billboard, T.I. revealed that the album will hit shelves on August 12th. The project was initially slated for release in September.

“There was a great demand for the product,” T.I. explained. “Once we put out 'No Matter What,' we got so much positive response that we moved up the date.”

T.I. released the song “No Matter What” on his website, streetcred.com, last week.

The Atlanta bred rapper revealed the album will feature production from DJ Toomp, Drumma Boy, Keith Mack, JR Rotem and Lil C. He plans to release the song "Top of the World", which features B.O.B and Kanye West, as Paper Trail's first official single.
