T.I. Sued Over His Akoo Clothing Line

T.I. is facing legal action over his clothing label Akoo - he's been slapped with a trademark infringement lawsuit concerning the brand name.

Just a year after the Live Your Life hit-maker, real name Clifford Harris, Jr., officially launched Akoo Clothing, he has been sued by bosses at social music TV network Akoo International, who claim they own the sole rights to the name.

TV executives have filed suit against T.I. in the District Court of the Northern District of Illinois, insisting they have held the Akoo trademark for years, reports AllHipHop.com. They are demanding the rapper stop using the brand name because his clothing range has misled and deceived consumers and potential clients of the TV network, which delivers video footage to over 86 million customers a month in the U.S.

Akoo CEO Niko Drakoulis says, "Akoo has been recognized as a leading social TV platform for connecting brand advertisers with millions of our engaged viewers. Our primary obligation and goal is to prevent confusion among our consumers, which is among the most basic objectives of trademark law. At the same time, Akoo has invested nearly a decade of effort and substantial capital to deploy its network and will do everything in its power to protect its brand."

Akoo International bosses were prompted to sue T.I. after a billboard advertising his fashion range in Newark, New Jersey caused controversy for being too sexually suggestive. Protests from local residents and Mayor Cory Booker led to the ad being taken down earlier this month.

Chamillionaire, officially hit the road today, embarking on his “In Love With My Money” tour with former group member, Paul Wall – first stop, Austin, Texas for their headlining gig at SXSW. The timing couldn't be more perfect as the release date for his long-awaited third album, Venom, was officially slated this week for June 22nd on Chamillitary/Universal Republic with a first single, artwork and tracklisting to be forthcoming shortly.

From Austin , where Cham and Paul will share the stage with Trae Tha Truth, Chalie Boy, Dorrough and a host of other Texas performers, the tour will make stops at L.A. 's House of Blues this Sunday, March 21st and route through 19 other cities including Vegas, San Francisco and Portland . The “In Love With My Money” tour is Chamillionaire and Paul Wall's first in over 7 years. Prior to their successful careers as major label solo artists, Cham and Paul enjoyed enourmous independent success with albums like “Get Ya Mind Correct”, a release whose success brought the majors calling. Lil Wayne banned from signing Autographs in Jail

Lil Wayne has reportedly been ordered not to sign any autographs during his time in jail.

The hip-hop star was sentenced to a year in prison on weapons possession charges this week (beg08Mar10) and began serving his time at New York's Rikers Island prison on Monday (08Mar10). But officials at the institution have instructed the Lollipop hitmaker to avoid publicising his celebrity status while he is in jail and ordered him not to sign any autographs for other inmates, according to TMZ.com.

A representative for the Correction Officer's Benevolent Association tells the website the decision was made because “Lil Wayne is not a celebrity in here.”

Shaq Settles for divorce

SHAQUILLE O'NEAL is almost a single man again after reaching a divorce settlement with his estranged with SHAUNIE.

Under the agreement, the Florida courts will have jurisdiction to officially divorce the couple, according to TMZ.com. Shaunie O'Neal's lawyer tells the website the California courts will have jurisdiction over any issues related to child custody.

Shaunie filed for legal separation from the basketball superstar in November (09). The couple shares four children.
