Customer Review :
Thats a good toss up question when comparing these two CD’s. He released this
CD in mid 1998, when commercial rap was on the take over (basically all the
artests from Def Jam Records ran the scene around that time), so I don’t think
that anyone heard this when it first came out. Production wise X does a little
exploring comming across Dr. Dre and Sir Jinx while staying with the some of
the beats by E-Swift. Some may say that this is his break through album, but
comparing this to At The Speed Of Life, Xzibit gets a little live on this than
previously.
To name a few tracks that I like :
Chamber Music sets
the tone of this CD.
3 Card Molly is another great track with the help of Saafir and Ras Kass (Golden
State)
What U See Is What U Get was the single of this CD and the video was nice also.
Deeper has a nice beat and really brings out X’s style. One of my favorites
Let It Rain which featues King T and The Liks also a nice beat.
If you enjoyed Xzibit’s style from At The Speed Of Life, he made this CD and the rest is history to you fans of all of dope lyrics comming from him with out the commercial mainstream. If you got into Xzibit from 40 Dayz and 40 Nightz and on, and never heard his first one or don’t like the hip hop style, you may consider this CD as his break through and got him involved with big artists such as Snoop Dogg, Emimem and Dr. Dre. To me personally, these CD’s are neck and neck. It all depends on what you like. I just don’t hope that he never forgets where he came from and the people that put on.
