| Wyclef Jean To Co-Host George Clooney’s Hope For Haiti Telethon |
Wyclef Jean will co-host a telethon to raise funds for the people of his native Haiti with movie star George Clooney.
The actor stepped up to front a global celebrity show for victims of Haiti’s catastrophic 7.0-magnitude earthquake - and Wyclef is to join him by hosting the New York-part of the event, which will take place on January 22.
The two-hour Hope For Haiti telethon will air on MTV and other networks. Performances and appearances are still to be confirmed but it is understood Sting will play live.
Donations will benefit relief efforts in the Caribbean country.
Clooney has already donated through his Not on Our Watch advocacy organization, which he co-founded with Matt Damon, Don Cheadle and Brad Pitt.
The group announced on Friday it would be giving $1 million to the relief effort in Haiti’s devastated capital Port-au-Prince.
