Wu-Tang Live at Montreux 2007 in stores now
In the hot summer of 2007, the vibe at the famous Stravinski Auditorium, site of the legendary Montreux Jazz Festival, quickly turned manic. With a palpable excitement in the air, the members of New York City’s Wu-Tang Clan—RZA, GZA, Method Man, Inspectah Deck, Raekwon The Chef, U-God, Ghostface Killah and Masta Killa—quietly took the stage under cover of darkness. Within seconds, the silence was shattered with a sound this grand stage had hardly ever heard. Sadly, original member Ol’ Dirty Bastard (1968-2004) did not live long enough to triumph with his mates on this historic moment for both the band and for the state of hiphop music. But, other talented rappers and DJs did, indeed, get to exult in the 2008 moment: Cappadonna, Streetlife and DJ Mathematics were all on hand to add their personal touches to an already toxic brew. It proved to be a rare gathering of the Clan.
