joined by the new series "the shop"
MTV announced back
in January the return of "Nick Cannon Presents Wild ’N Out," the successful
sketch comedy/improv series created and hosted by the actor/comedian joined
by the premiere of the "The Shop" a new comedy reality series set
at the famed Mr. Rooney’s Barbershop in Queens NY. The premiere took place on
February 2nd with Tyra Banks and Sean Paul. On tap for next week’s show (March
9th) is Mike Jones.
Coming back from a successful first season "Nick Cannon Presents Wild ’N
Out" will continue to feature two teams of hot, up-and-coming comics who
go head-to-head in a series of "improv battles." Each week Cannon’s
team will challenge a celebrity guest and their team to a fast-paced war of
words and wit. The show combines the best elements of classic comedy series
- hilarious improv, topical sketch comedy, and performances from fledgling comedians
eager to make their mark in the genre - with an urban feel that Cannon’s fans
have come to expect from his film and TV projects. Tony DiBari and Karen Frank
serve as MTV’s Executive Producers for "Wild ’N Out." Rod Aissa is
the Senior Vice President of Talent Development. Adam Freeman and Michael Goldman
also serve as Executive Producers. Nick Cannon is the creator and Executive
Producer of "Wild ’N Out."
MTV cameras will follow the work lives of the charismatic, real-life barbers
of "The Shop" as they groom patrons while swapping witty ideologies
on life, music, hip hop, culture, women and more. From who’s hot to who’s not,
what’s poppin’ to what’s downright whack these days - "The Shop" will
feature in-depth breakdowns from the barbers and patrons. To top things off,
some of today’s most popular celebrities and hottest hip hop artists will stop
by "The Shop" to participate in the banter.
"The Shop" is being executive produced by Tommy Mottola and Jeb Brien for Mottola Entertainment. Also listed as Executive Producers are Cory Rooney, Matt Morchower and David Kaufman for Varsity Entertainment, and Rushion McDonald. Ethan Goldman serves as Development Executive. Tony DiSanto and Liz Gateley are Executive Producers for MTV.
