A 28-year-old Detroit man named Mario Etheridge surrendered to police on Wednesday (April 12th) in the death of D12 member Proof.
Etheridge, who was a bouncer at the CCC nightclub where Proof was shot on Tuesday morning (April 11th), allegedly fired the weapon that killed the rapper. Proof apparently got into an argument with a bouncer at the club, 35-year-old Keith Bender, over a pool game.
The situation escalated when a shot was fired in the air and Proof allegedly pistol-whipped Bender, knocked him to ground and shot him. Etheridge, who was Bender’s cousin, then opened fire on the rapper, shooting him four times in the chest and head.
Etheridge surrendered with his attorney and he’s cooperating with the police, who have so far determined that Proof fired first.
