Review:
The Roots have fulfilled their contractual obligation to Geffen Records and
have signed a new label deal with Jay-Z’s Def Jam Records. The group’s
first release under the new deal will be a new album, Game Theory, which is
due out in August.
Drummer ?uestlove told Billboard.com that the hip-hop group are "60 per cent finished" with the new album and guests will likely include Black Star’s Mos Def and Talib Kweli. The all-star duo guested on a track called "Where I Come" and there’s another track with just Mof Def called "Workin’ On It."
Game Theory will be the follow-up to The Roots’ 2004 album, The Tipping Point. The band recently collaborated with Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda on his solo side-project and are touring throughout the summer.
