The Doctors Advocate first week sales

After a lot of expectations and speculations on The Doctors Advocate first week sales, Soundscan has finally come up with a number yesterday : 380 000 units sold.

Yesterday, Hitsdailydouble.com posted this number and the news was also reported on Sohh Blogs this morning.

380K is pretty far from the 1 million units that The Game wanted to move during its first week and after all the publicity that he received during the last days these numbers are pretty low.

However, when you look at all recent first week sales for albums like Lloyd Banks or Lil Wayne, you have to admit that 380K is still a very decent first week for a Hip Hop album.

The Game fans and its haters will certainly not share the same point of view but the final numbers are somewhere between the lowest and highest numbers that were expected for this album.

Nobody in music can sell a million records their first week. Your best bet is to sell 500,000 and go gold your first week. With all the internet leaks, and pirating, going platinum after 7 days is impossible. He should be happy though, its a hot CD and everyone I know coped it ; and most rappers nowadays struggle to go gold unless they are uber popular.
