Rapper The Game Is Released From Jail

The Game has been released from jail after serving only eight days of a 60-day sentence.

Los Angeles County sheriff’s records show that the rapper was released yesterday (March 9) just before midnight, reports the Associated Press.

The Game, was convicted last month of possessing a firearm in a school zone, as previously reported.

The charges against the Compton rapper stem from a fight he was involved in during a basketball game on February 24, 2007 in South Los Angeles in which he allegedly pulled a gun from his Cadillac Escalade after punching a player on the opposing team and threatening to shoot him.

No comment has yet been made about the rapper’s early release.

The 28-year-old rapper, born Jayceon Taylor, turned himself over to authorities on March 2 to serve his sentence after he was convicted of possession of a firearm in a school zone in February.

The conviction stems from an altercation last year in which Taylor is accused of pulling a gun on another player during a pickup game of basketball at a South Los Angeles school.

The Game’s lawyer, Shawn Chapman Holley, confirmed the rapper’s release from the Twin Towers Correctional Facility earlier today (March 10)

The Game issues statement on his release

The Game has released his own statement concerning his early release from prison, the conflicting reports surrounding his release, and what he has been up to.

"I apologize for the conflicting news on my release, but due to the sensitive negotiations on this matter I felt it appropriate not to give an exact date on my release. I am truly grateful to my attorney, family and management for doing a great job in this respect. Upon my release I went directly to the studio with producers Cool & Dre and recorded several records including my street record ‘Big Dreams.’ Thank you to all my fans as well for the support."
