The Beatnuts
Album : Classic Nuts Vol. 1
Release Date : Feb 19, 2002

Label : Relativity

Customer Review :

No doubt Beatnuts represent the true soul of Hip-Hop. Incredible production, mixed with simple, but entertaining lyrics. They don’t rap about trying to solve the countries problems. They’re not really topical rappers. What you get is 2 emcees who love what they do, which is emcee’ing. It’s amazing how I can listen to them over and over,...but this album only weighs in 12 tracks long. A Couple of the choices seem a bit, well iffy to me. And as far as I could tell it doesn’t have any new tracks. I’m not sure where the remix with Method Man is from though. They could have made this album CLASSIC. It’s still great Nuts, especially for us fans, but what compelling reasons did they give us die hard followers to purchase this ? No new tracks, 1 remix, and it’s missing songs, the ones I listed I’m sure other heads would agree. But the horn loop on "Watch Out Now" makes it worthy of buying by itself if you ask me The Beatnuts have droves of classic joints, this album is living proof of that. They are easily one of the most consistant groups in Hip-Hop. Every release you know what to expect,... Even without Al-Tariq they stand as the premirer duo. And even with what it’s lacking, I recommend this album to everyone. It’s nice to have 12 of their illest joints on one album. They have an obvious formula, I hope they stay around forever. I’d love to buy a Classic Nuts volume 5 15 years down the road.
