Snoop Dogg Gets Comedy Central Cartoon

Snoop Dogg has secured his own animated comedy series on Comedy Central.

A pilot for the currently untitled cartoon went into production this week and is set to air late this year or early next year.

The cartoon is based on Snoop’s life growing up as a teenager in Long Beach, California in the 1980s.

The 36-year-old rapper will serve as executive producer alongside Tom Lynch, who also worked on Andre 3000’s "Class of 3000" series.

"We’ve been looking to get into business with Snoop, who’s always fantastic on our roasts. He’s one of those people who truly crosses over between music and comedy," said Lauren Corrao, senior VP of programming and development at Comedy Central.

In related news, Snoop has also signed up to make an extended cameo appearance in the ABC soap "One Life to Live" and create a special remix of the show’s theme song for the May 8th and 9th episodes.

Snoop will also perform "Sensual Seduction" and "Life of Da Party" from his new album "Ego Trippin’" on the show.

"I’ve been a fan of ’One Life To Live’ since I was a baby," said Snoop in a statement. "My momma always had it on the tube in the crib growing up. The opportunity to change up the theme song and give it some of my flavor will make the show the ’Life of The Party.’"

The likes of Mary J. Blige, Nelly Furtado, Chris Botti, Erykah Badu, Timbaland and Keri Hilson have performed on the show in the past.
