| Free-man Shyne just inked a record deal with Def Jam |
As reported by the well connected Miss Info, recently freed rapper Shyne inked a seven-figure deal with Def Jam to release his anticipated new album. This ends a bidding war that included Dr Dre & Jimmy Iovine.
He also reportedly signed a management deal with Hip-Hop since 1978, the company founded by Kyambo Joshua that also includes Gee Roberson & Cortez Bryant and whose roster of artists included none other than Lil Wayne, Drake & Young Jeezy.
Considering his immigration status with the US, Shyne has planned to record his new album in London bu has yet to pass immigration in the UK.
This is his second record deal with Def Jam, as he signed deal with the label in 2004, although he clashed with CEO LA Reid over the promotion of his album, Godfather: Buried Alive.
Shyne, was convicted of two counts of assault, reckless endangerment and gun possession, after the high profile 1999 nightclub shooting, which also involved Sean Diddy Combs and his then girlfriend, Jennifer Lopez. This put a stop to his career in 2001 after the release of his first album called Shyne in 2000.
