RIHANNA has been subpoenaed to testify in the assault case against ex-boyfriend CHRIS BROWN.

The R&B singer’s attorney has confirmed his client has been served and will face her former lover in court later this month (22Jun09).

Donald Etra tells U.S. news show Entertainment Tonight the 21 year old was served on Tuesday (09Jun09) in Los Angeles.

Etra says, "She’ll appear at the preliminary hearing if it does go forward… and (she) will answer all questions posed to her by the District Attorney and Mark Geragos, Chris Brown’s lawyer."

In April, Brown, 20, pleaded not guilty to one count of assault and one count of making criminal threats related to an alleged domestic violence incident involving Rihanna in February (09).

On Wednesday (10Jun09), Geragos asked a California appeals court to stall Brown’s preliminary hearing to allow him more time to prepare, but the trial judge shut him down.
