Rick Ross has paid the cost to be the Ross. Widely regarded as the "Mayor of Miami" Ross is the guy they call to bring the heat. He has worked with mega talents like Trina, Luke Skywalker and Trick Daddy. The 26-year-old recently loaned his writing skills and voice to rapper Jackie O and has just completed working on Angie Martinez’s new album for Elektra Records.
Last year when Young Jeezy stepped away from the Atlanta group Boyz N Da Hood, Ross was considered his potential replacement after appearing on their 2005 self-titled album, but the deal never came to fruition. Even thought he has seemingly been working on everyone’s albums, Ross’ true commitment is to his group Triple C. Rick Ross, Gun Play Murdock and Nittie Torch are known as the collective Triple C.
The real deal is the Carroll City Cartel which was founded by Kenneth "Boobie" Williams, the infamous leader of the notorious Boobie Boys. Before being apprehended by the FBI, Williams passed the rap gauntlet to his protégé Ross. Ross doesn’t just look up to gang leaders. He names Big Daddy Kane, J.T. Money and Tupac Shakur as his inspiration in the rap game.
Hearing their rhymes and seeing their videos convinced Rick of his inevitable path. Ross knew he had to become a rap star. In Rick’s own words, "I knew I had to be on the big screen, I had to have the women look at me the way they looked at Kane in his ‘Symphony’ video." From his formative days as a simple fan to the present, where he sits on the verge of stardom, Ross is keeping it real. Over the past few months, the industry has been bubbling about Rick Ross. Ever since "Hustler Anthem (Everyday I‘m Hustlin) first debuted in Miami, on Poe Boy Records, it blew up becoming the cities’ street anthem.
Two months later, it took over the country and is now a mixshow and street favorite. Clearly it’s no secret; Ross has taken Triple C legit and his career is blowing up. "The Street Catalog" has 19 bangers with appearances by Miami all stars Trick Daddy, Trina and Jackie O. Rick Ross is poised to make Miami the new hot bed of hip hop. Writer. Rapper. Actor. Leader of men. Ross is coming so you best make way.
