Remy Ma Sentencing Delaying Until May
Remy Ma will have to wait another three weeks to find out if she faces a lengthy prison spell after sentencing in her shooting case was postponed on Tuesday. Remy Ma’s trial, which was scheduled for Wednesday, will now take place on May 13, to give her lawyer, Ivan Fisher, more time to prepare "a sentencing submission."
The Brooklyn rapper, born Remy Smith, was found guilty of assault, weapons possession and attempted coercion on March 27 over the shooting of Makeda Barnes-Joseph after Smith claimed she had stolen $3,000 from her purse.
26-year-old Smith is being held without bail at Rikers Island until her sentencing. She faces up to 25 years in prison, although it is thought she will be sentenced to around 3-5 years. Remy Ma’s lawyers are planning to appeal the verdict.
