Proof
Album : Searching 4 Jerry Garcia
Release Date : Aug 09, 2005
Label : Iron Fist Records

review :
D12 member Proof is gearing up for the Aug. 9 release of his first solo album, "Searching for Jerry Garcia." The set will be issued via the artist’s own Iron Fist label and features such guests as longtime collaborator Eminem, 50 Cent, Method Man, Nate Dogg, Obie Trice and his D12 cohorts.

Proof aka Big Proof aka Derty Harry, an amazing freestyler and winner of Source Magazine’s 1999 Freestyling Competition is one of Detroit’s wildest wordsmith. Word got around about the new kid on the block and it was a matter of time before Proof, Detroit’s most notorious MC and host of the emcee battles at Maurice Malones’ Hip Hop Shop would meet the rapper who later become known to the world as Slim Shady. New to the local hip-hop scene, Proof pushed Eminem into the battles, creating the street buzz needed for Eminem to secure a record deal with Aftermath/Interscope Records.

Searching For Jerry Garcia, the debut solo album from multi-platinum D12 member Proof, will be in stores August 9th. The much anticipated album features many top guests including 50 Cent, B-Real (Cypress Hill), Method Man, Nate Dogg, MC Breed, T-3 (Slum Village) and fellow Shady Records label mates Eminem, D12 & Obie Trice. Inspired by Jerry Garcia, the lead singer of The Greatful Dead, Proof says he’s a huge fan, not only as an artist but as a "genius" who suffered and died from character flaws common to all people. "He played every kind of music — he had jazz albums, classical albums, he went against the grain," Proof said. "He didn’t care about the record sales ... I mean, his shows outsold his record sales. That almost don’t make sense to me."

This album is unbelievable it is trully a work of art. From the first track it gets you stuck to the album, he is trully a wordsmith on a platform of his own. The stuff that he did with D12 is so different to what his solo album sounds like, its sometimes hard to believe that this is the same proof from D12.
