Prodigy HNIC2 : March 2008

For Prodigy, half of legendary rap group Mobb Deep, this new year 2008 will see the beginning of his 3 1/2 year prison stint on January 9th and the release of his new solo album H.N.I.C. 2 in March.

Prodigy pleaded guilty to criminal possession of a loaded gun earlier this year after he was arrested alongside producer The Alchemist in October of 2006 in Manhattan, after police stopped Prodigy’s bulletproof Chevy Suburban for making a U-turn and driving the wrong direction down a one way street, in an attempt to secure a parking spot.

Police found an unlicensed .22 caliber handgun in Prodigy SUV and charged both men with gun possession charges. Charges against The Alchemist were eventually dropped but Prodigy plead guilty to his third count of possessing a gun and was sentenced to 3 1/2 years in prison in October.

Prodigy said he’ll make good use of his time behind bars :"Throughout my life, I have always lived through adversity. I’m a survivor. You don’t understand the mental power that I have. While I am locked up, I’m going to be writing lyrics, working on the script for my second feature film, Dope, and finish writing an autobiography of my life which will be finished by the time I’m released.."

He announced today (December 25) that his second solo album H.N.I.C. 2 will be released worldwide via a distribution deal with Voxonic Music and AAO Music/Reality. Thanks to Voxonic voice technology the album will be released in multiple languages, including German, French and Spanish. Prodigy’s own voice will be translated into multiple languages, with 99% accuracy according to Voxonic.

H.N.I.C. 2 will be produced by Prodigy and longtime production partner The Alchemist, who helped produce Prodigy’s first solo album, H.N.I.C, and will be released in March 2008.

Prodigy basically got what he deserved.He put out an image of thugness in his music.He wants people to believe that he is a bad ass.In every song he records. He states how big his crew is, how many guns he has, and how he will shoot you.He is fake because he never shot anyone in his life,hes like 3ft tall.Him, and his midget partner Havoc.So they feed people lies in they music saying they thugs. People like Al Capone, John Gotti,& Sammy "the bull",they are real gangsters.If they want you dead then you are dead.They kill they don’t talk.Thats what real gangsters do.People who talk about it most of the time don’t be about it.Yeah he got caught with a gun but that was only for bragging reasons.To tell people "Im Gangsta" cause I got a gun.I’m black, and people like prodigy gives the black race a bad name.The main stream white community looks at us blacks as all animals,because people like prodigy continues to carry on this behavior.Prodigy is a good rapper,but he needs to grow up, because he is 33 years old acting no different then he did when he was 19.What when he turn 60, he gonna be a 60 year old man still calling him self a thug.Give me a break.

In all seriousness, I’m praying for my man P. I hope he can get through this one and focus on what is left for Mobb Deep and The Infamous. I’m sure he will be protected from the haters on the inside and find some loyal dudes to ride with. Most likely, he’ll get a reduction and we’ll see him in 2009. Until then, I’ma be looking for his joints in the stores. Hold ya head P ! Damn, off the record...why didn’t Alchemist ride the beef ???
