Police Report: Proof Shot First
According to a Detroit Police spokesman “If Proof was shot in self-defense or to protect someone else, the shooter may not be charged.” The shooting of rap artist Proof, a member of the hip-hop group D-12 stunned everyone when the news first broke. Another hip-hop related murder. Another rap artist silenced. Well, with the information coming out now it seems this was an act brought on by Proof himself.
Evidence indicates that Proof, real name Deshaun Holton, fired the first shots in the incident in Detroit earlier this week that left him dead, say police. Authorities have said that a bullet from Proof’s gun appears to have hit Keith Bender, currently in critical condition in hospital, in the head, shortly before he was shot and killed himself.
One of the main suspects in the Detroit rapper’s death, Mario Etheridge - a bouncer at CCC Club where the shooting occurred - handed himself in to Police yesterday after he was named by several witnesses. Police say, however, they are still unsure who fired the shot that killed the rapper.
The mentality of
hip-hop has gone far from what hip-hop is supposed to be. An artist is suppose
to aspire to the top 10 of Billboard not the most top ten wanted.
