Pete Rock working on new album
Pete Rock is working on his third solo album, titled N.Y.’s Finest. SOHH.com reports that the set will be released on the Nature Sounds label this summer. The album will feature guest appearances by Papoose, Jim Jones, Raekwon, Ghostface Killah, Masta Killa, Cappadonna, MF Doom, SlumVillage, Redman, and others.
The first single from the project is "914" featuring Styles P and Sheek Louch.
Pete Rock and his former partner C.L. Smooth originally split in 1995 due to conflicting lifestyles. The pair released its critically acclaimed debut EP, All Souled Out, in 1991, which was followed by two full-length sets, 1992’s Mecca And The Soul Brother and 1994’s The Main Ingredient. The duo’s biggest hit was their tribute to Troy Dixon of Heavy D & the Boyz, titled "They Reminisce Over You (T.R.O.Y.)."
