Nas decides to change album name to "Nas"

After months of speculation that Island Def Jam/Universal would not actually release Nas’s new album with the title "Nigger," Nas appears to have finally given in, changing the title to simply "Nas," a Def Jam rep confirmed to EW.com.

Island Def Jam chair L.A Reis had previously sttod by his artist, saying :

"We stand firmly behind and beside our artists with pride and with pleasure. Anything Nas wants to do, I completely stand beside him."

However Nas’s comments to MTV last week did not echo the same sentiments.

"Everybody is trying to stop the title.... Record stores are gonna have a problem in this day and time selling a record with that title. Who knows what’s gonna turn out and be on that title ? Who knows what that title will be ?"
