Mos Def Preps The Ecstatic Release

Mos Def’s fourth studio album, The Ecstatic, comes 10 years after his highly regarded debut Black On Both Sides. Since his first album (which earned four mics on The Source’s five mic scale), Mos Def has gone on to win an Obie for his work Off-Broadway, receive an Emmy nomination for a television movie, and pick up film role after film role. Throughout all this, the Brooklyn rapper has stuck to his music roots, earning three Grammy nominations for recorded albums.

Having just performed at the Cape Town Jazz Festival in South Africa, Mos Def will make an appearance on The Late Show With David Letterman on June 8 and Late Night with Jimmy Fallon on June 9 to promote The Ecstatic. The album, which was announced in 2007, was supposed to have been released in April of 2008, but was pushed back to the summer of ’09.

The Ecstatic is slated for release on June 9.
