Lil Wayne Tops Billboard 200, Clears 1 Million Sales
As expected Lil’ Wayne has topped the Billboard 200 Chart this week with his "Tha Carter III" album (Cash Money/Universal) after selling over 1 million copies in the United States.
"Tha Carter III" is the first album top sell over 1 million copies in its first week on sale since 50 Cent’s 2005 album "The Massacre."
The album is also Wayne’s first No. 1 beating his previous best sales week of 238,000 copies when "Tha Carter II" was released in 2005 and claiming the No. 2 spot on The Billboard 200.
Plies’ "Definition of Real" (Big Gates/Slip-N-Slide) took the No. 2 spot this week selling 215,000 units in the United States. His previous album, "The Real Testament," also debuted at No. 2 when it was released in 2007.
Other notable movements on the chart this week include Usher’s "Here I Stand" (LaFace/Zomba) which drops from 3 to 5 selling a further 101,000 copies and N.E.R.D.’s "Seeing Sounds" (Star Trak/Interscope) which debuted at No. 7 selling 80,000 copies.
