Review :

Tha Carter 3 is the seventh studio album by rapper Lil Wayne.

After most of the album leaked to the Internet in mid-2007, Lil Wayne decided to use the leaked tracks, plus four new tracks and make an album out of them, titled Tha Carter III : The Leak. The Leak was to be officially released December 18, 2007, with the actual album being delayed until February 12, 2008,but The Leak was confirmed to be a fake which will inevitably never be released. Originally when questioned about the unplanned album leak, Lil Wayne said :

We have to find out exactly what’s out there. I’ll probably just [collect] all the songs that’s floating around and make my own mixtape called "The Leak" since people want the music so bad. To tell you the truth though, there’s a song I did with Kanye West out there—of course you want to save that for your album, but the rest of them songs probably wouldn’t have made the album. There’s a song floating around that says ‘produced by Timbaland’ ; Tim didn’t produce that record though.

Lil Wayne stated in XXL magazine that producers will include Kanye West, Scott Storch, The Runners, Timbaland, Mannie Fresh and will.i.am.

Collaborators include Birdman, Enrique Iglesias, Jim Jones, Juelz Santana, Justin Timberlake, Kanye West, The Game, and more.

The album concept wise is on hit and I like how Wayne switched it up from his normal self. Lyrically, not up to par except A Milli...Carter 1 holds the lyrical title of the 3. Overall I like it but not his best for being pushed back so much. My favorites are A Milli, Dr. Carter, Mr. Carter (Jay killed him by the way haha), the Babyface joint, 3 Peat, Lolli Pop, Phone Home...fuck it everything except La (Brisco garbage haha) and I hate all shit with Busta Rhymes in it

I didnt like Lil Wayne back in the young Cash Money days. over time he developed into a great artist. I dont know if he had a ghost writer like Gillie says but it seems like he studied under someone like Jay-Z. His metaphors mostly follow that a "new york" rapper style with a southern slang and his own personal style. He has some of the illest rhymes out now and is really consistent. Even the songs where it seems like he just got on the mic an threw something out turns out to be hits. Tha Carter 3 is a great CD. You can just put it in a let it play all the way through unlike some albums where you only play the few songs that they play on the radio or have videos for.
