Lil’ Wayne Set To Sell 1 Million Copies In First Week
It looks like Lil’ Wayne’s new album "Tha Carter III" (Cash Money/Universal) is set to sell around one million copies in its first week on sale in the United States. Since its release on Tuesday last week the album is already said to have sold 630,000 copies in the period running up to Friday.
Despite being recently bootlegged online, "Tha Carter III" is on course to beat Kanye West’s "Graduation" (Roc-A-Fella/Def Jam) which had sold 600,000 in the same time period and went on to sell 957,000 copies in its first week.
The last album
to sell over a million copies in its debut week was 50 Cent’s "The Massacre"
(Shady/Aftermath/Interscope) in March 2005 which sold 1.1 million units.
