As reported by MTV the LA county coroner Deputy Medical Examiner Louis A. Peņa said that "coronary artery disease and multiple post-operative factors due to or as a consequence of liposuction and mammoplasty" led to her death on November 10.

The coroner wrote in the report "In summary, it is my opinion Ms. West died from some pre-existing coronary artery disease and multiple post-operative factors following surgery". However, "based on the history and available information, as currently known, the manner of death could not be determined."

If the coroner’s report could not state what exactly killed Donda West but there was no evidence that anesthesia or the surgery is to blame.

Donda West was 58 years old and a recently retired professor of English at Chicago State University after 31 years who also served as a manager to her son in later years.

She had gained increased exposure through her recent book entitled Raising Kanye, a memoir on her relationship with her son in his childhood. The book led Donda West to appear on Oprah and The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

Kanye West chronicled his love for his mother in Hey Mama, a song from his 2005 album Late Registration.
