...It looks like 50 Cent might be retiring !

Kanye West is leading the battle of the charts against 50 Cent : his album Graduation is outselling his rival’s by two to one. Both hip-hop stars released their new LPs in the U.S. on Tuesday, and the Candy Shop rapper vowed to put down his microphone if he was beaten by West.

But 50 Cent may be forced to swallow his pride - West is winning the war, with Graduation predicted to sell 750,000 copies in its first week - 200,000 units more than 50’s projected sales figure, according to AllHipHop.com.

According to Nielsen Soundscan, West’s new album Graduation has shifted 431,000 copies on its day of release in the US, compared to only 310,000 copies of 50 Cent’s Curtis.

The acts, who both released albums this week, have been caught in a media battle to see who would get to Number One.

The ’beef’ culminated with 50 Cent saying that if ’Curtis’ didn’t outsell West’s new effort ’Graduation’ he would quit music. He said : "I’ll write music and work with my other artists, but I won’t put out anymore solo albums."

Personally I haven’t felt fifty since his first album. It was real. On the other hand, Kanye’s first album wasn’t. I’m all about now. Kanye stepped his game up since. Lyrically, he dominates a game of MC’s that lost focus of what it means to be an MC. I can respect that cause he penetrating a gap in the game. Whether or not it’s no competition is a different story. Fifty, on the other hand has not said anyhthing impressive to me. The Chi has enough he say. I live it , give me more. If Kanye can’t pump what’s good, get out the way. Ain’t no favortism. Right now though, he got that heat. Curtis need to step it up a bit. That G Unit stuff was cute for a minute but, personally you have no fans in the hood right now. At least most people with the same color as him don’t support him. At least, after his first album. But I personaaly will go hard supporting Kanye, at least until he go soft. Guess what’s next.

I agree with ABSTRUSE on what he/she had to say on the whole Kanye West/50 Cent thing...it feels good to finally see another intelligent person out there that knows what they are talking about...i got both CDs the day they came out ! They’re both good, but i do tend to lission to Kayne’s more, he’s just more my style...but i have been a long time 50 FAN, he makes good music to, just most is gangster type stuff and i don’t really like or relate to all that, but i do like his whole (rags to riches) story...but Kayne just makes good MUSIC not just your everyday rap stuff...basically it all comes down to what you’re more into, whether up lifting or gangster you’ll get the best of both with these CDs !!!

They want balance and diversity in music. Kanye is Real Hip Hop ! Afrika Bambaataa (1/3 of the founding fathers of Hip Hop) had beats that predated techno. Hip Hop is a culture and it’s music incorporates many musical styles from techno, house, electronica, funk, to r&b, jazz, and soul, etc...People are buyin’ Graduation ’cuz they want somethin’ different not ’cuz anyone wants 50 to quit and Kanye’s album is good music (no pun intended). If you got the loot, cop both albums. One last note, record sales shouldn’t determine if an album is good or not. Just support the artists and the music that you like. It’s all about quality not quantity.
