Kanye’s mother dies suddenly
Dr. Donda West, Kanye West’s mother, suddenly died last night in the Los Angeles area. The cause of death was not released immediately.
Donda West was 58 years old and a recently retired professor of English at Chicago State University after 31 years who also served as a manager to her son in later years.
She had gained increased exposure through her recent book entitled Raising Kanye, a memoir on her relationship with her son in his childhood. The book led Donda West to appear on Oprah and The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
Kanye West chronicled his love for his mother in Hey Mama, a song from his 2005 album Late Registration.
Kanye was in London when he learned this tragic news and immediately ditched his commitments to catch a plane back to the U.S.
