Jay-Z’s Lawyer Suing Him For Failing To Pay His Fees

A lawyer who’s been defending Jay-Z against a lawsuit by former employees wants to withdraw from the case because he hasn’t been paid. Attorney Michael DiMattia claims that Jay-Z owes him $82 million for work done in 2007 and 2008.

DiMattia has been helping Jay-Z fight a lawsuit by former employees of his 40/40 sports bar who claim they were not paid overtime. Last summer a judge ruled that the club owners violated New York labor laws. The lawsuit is still pending.

An attorney representing the ex-employees was shocked to hear that Jay-Z’s lawyer wanted to quit over a large, unpaid bill. Rex Burch told the New York Post, “It’s astounding. For rap’s biggest mogul, you’d think this amount of money would be chump change.”
