Next Chart Battle : Jay-Z Vs Nas ?

Nas geatest hit is due November 6, the same day as Jay’s American Gangster..

While the hip-hop community is distracted by the whole 50 Cent / Kanye West sales war, Nas recently revealed that he plans to drop a new album by the end of the year, and his geatest hit is also due November 6, the same day as Jay’s American Gangster..

On November 6th, Jay-Z will release a new album inspired by the forthcoming Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe movie American Gangster, meaning he has now un-retired twice. The MC/label head, who declared he was quitting the game after releasing 2003’s The Black Album, says he found inspiration to pen tracks after watching the film, which tells the story of Seventies Harlem heroin dealer Frank Lucas. “It was like I was watching the film, and putting it on pause, and giving a back story to the story,” Jay told the New York Times.

Jay told the Times he’s finished nine tracks so far, including “No Hook,” a song that enforces the “stop snitchin’” ideology and “takes you through this journey — his journey, my journey — so many people’s journey that come from the areas that we come from.” Calling last year’s Kingdom Come too “sophisticated” for some of his fans, Jay-Z said he sees American Gangster as a return to his street roots. “Watching that film, it brought back all these memories,” he said. “It took me back to those emotions.”

2007 : The God Year ?

Nas also Reveals Plans For New Album Dropping Fourth-Quarter

Yep, according to Nas, 2007 is "The God Year." At least, that’s what he is telling MTV. It’s been less than a year since Hip-Hop Is Dead topped the charts, but nonetheless, new material is coming.

Although details are scarce about the new record, MTV found out that the Godson is halfway done with recording and plans to drop the first single sometime in October.

"I can’t reveal it yet," Nas inquired about the album’s title.

"But if you remember, the original name for Hip-Hop Is Dead was N----. It was ahead of its time. [When the news leaked], Def Jam immediately went out there and said I was being facetious. But that was the name of my album," the rapper continued.

He revealed, in a past interview with MTV, that he had some collaborations with Will.i.am that would be on the new record, but has since scrapped them. "Nah," he said. "Some landed on other people’s albums. It wasn’t time for that type of sh—, so I let ’em go. But Will’s a genius. I worked with new producers, but I’m sure me and Will gonna holla again."

Aside from the announcement of a new album coming, Nas was tight-lipped about featured guest, producers, concepts, etc.

When asked if DJ Premier would be involved, Nas replied, simply with "Who knows?"
