Jadakiss Biography :

Jadakiss (Jayson Phillips), Sheek (Shawn Jacobs), and Styles (David Styles) began rapping together in their childhood. By the time they reached their late teens, they had settled on the name the LOX (an acronym for Living Off Experience).

The Lox gained national exposure in 1997 with their multi-platinum tribute to the Notorious B.I.G., "We’ll Always Love Big Poppa" and with their first album “Money, Power & Respect” in 1998.

In 1999, Jadakiss and the Lox bounced to the Ruff Ryders and has remained a member of both groups since. The all-star hip-hop collective/production team Ruff Ryders included CEOs Chivon, Dee, and Waah Dean, producers Swizz Beatz, DJ Shok, and PK, and gold and platinum-selling rappers DMX, Eve, Drag On, and the LOX (Shawn "Sheek" Jacobs, Jayson Phillips, and David Styles).

After the second Lox record "We Are the Streets" released in 2000, and many mix tapes and impressive cameos later, Jadakiss released his near-platinum debut album, “Kiss tha Game Goodbye”, in August of 2001 on the Ruff Ryders/Interscope label. Kiss Tha Game Goodbye was a critically acclaimed debut that confirmed Jadakiss’s ability to hold down an album himself, scoring massives hits with singles including "Put Ya Hands Up" and "We Gonna Make It".

Three years later, his second album “Kiss of Death” was released, and established JadaKiss as one of the rap game’s elite lyricists. Jadakiss is no longer a brash MC with far-flung aspirations to hip-hop’s throne, but a savy veteran with legit claims to the crown. Produced by Havoc of Mobb Deep and featuring soul crooner Anthony Hamilton, the retrospective song and single "Why" is the album’s most personal song. "It’s just asking why to a lot of things I think a lot of people all over the world might want to know," says Jadakiss.“Time’s Up” featuring Nate Dogg and "U make me wanna" featuring Mariah carey, two massive singles, received heavy rotation on the airwaves. This album also included featuring with Eminem, Kanye West, Snoop Dogg, the Neptunes and more..
