Guru (of Gang Starr)
Album : Guru 8.0 : Lost & Found
Release Date : 5/19/2009

review :
The brilliant new release from the Iconic MC who amazingly continues to raise the bar to phenomenal new heights that have never been seen before in Hip Hop. Accompanied by the cutting edge, futuristic, multi-tiered and streetwise musical landscapes of NYC’s brightest producer Solar, Guru breathes new life into true lyricism and together Guru and Solar bring forth relevant conceptual songwriting that will have all the Real Heads immediately addicted to this album.

Guru 8.0 Lost and Found is a major compliment to Guru’s legendary musical legacy and shows that his love for the artform and culture called Hip Hop is thriving greatly. This is a pure Hip Hop record that defines a crucial new direction and paves the way for a creatively intelligent change from the "same old thing". This is the 4th release from Guru and Solar on their 7 Grand label and without a doubt listeners will be totally enthralled and thoroughly impressed by the intense musical chemistry of this dynamic duo.

Guru 8.0 Lost and Found, unlike the last two Jazzmatazz releases from 7 Grand, focuses away from outside features and instead allows for Guru and his immediate family to really shine on the mic. Solar comes through to drop gems on a few joints showing that not only is he a top producer, but that he can also "spit fire" with the best. Joining in as well is the mixtape legend Dj Doo and Philly’s own K. Born and Highpower.

There is also a key guest vocal performance from UK soul man Omar, who skillfully flows over a superb Solar track complimenting Guru’s urgent rhyme delivery. All in all Guru 8.0 Lost and Found is a must for any self-proclaimed Hip Hop connoisseur. If Real Hip Hop has been lost, you will now find it alive and well here in this new classic from 7 Grand Records.
