Eminem and his manager, Paul Rosenberg, are reportedly in talks to purchase the legendary Detroit nightclub, St. Andrew’s Hall.
The Detroit News reports that Eminem is negotiating to buy the venue from Live Nation, formerly Clear Channel Entertainment. Live Nation, which was created in 2005, owns or operates over 120 performance venues worldwide.
Eminem and Paul Rosenberg will manage the place, while the venue’s current management would run the day-to-day operations of the club.
St. Andrew’s, which figured prominently in Eminem’s film 8 Mile, is a well-known place for Detroit hip-hop and the scene of countless rap battles. The club is located on E. Congress Street and has a capacity of about 1,000 people with stages on the main level and in the basement area, which is referred to as The Shelter.
In 2003, Eminem hosted the 8 Mile DVD premiere party at St. Andrew’s in March 2003, and posed with D12 for the cover of Spin Magazine’s August 2001 issue on the venue’s front steps.
In other news, Eminem will be one of the guests, alongside Dr Dre, featured on the upcoming 50 Cent’s album recently entitled "Curtis". Justin Timberlake, Mary J Blige and Akon are also said to be featured on the follow-up to "The Massacre" which has been seven times platinum worldwide.
