Proof’s closest friend and longtime collaborator Eminem released a statement expressing his feelings on April 13 :

"You don’t know where to begin when you lose somebody who’s been such a big part of your life for so long," said Eminem. "Proof and I were brothers. He pushed me to become who I am. Without Proof’s guidance and encouragement there would have been a Marshall Mathers, but probably not an Eminem and certainly never a Slim Shady. Not a day will go by without his spirit and influence around us all. He will be missed as a friend, father and both the heart and ambassador of Detroit Hip-Hop."

"Right now, there’s a lot of people focusing on the way he died," he added. "I want to remember the way he lived. Proof was funny, he was smart, he was charming. He inspired everyone around him. He can never, ever be replaced. He was, and always will be, my best friend."

I can’t imagine how hard it must be to wake up everyday knowing that your not going to see your best friend again..... Knowing that instead of having your best friend on top of the world you now have your best friend on the bottom of the world must be really hard to get it throw your head.... Guys, this is something else. Eminem is known as the main man in D12 but believe me Proof was somebody. I never saw him in my life but i always liked him for every reason.He was for real,you could tell.I will miss him, Detroit will miss him, hip hop world will miss him, and every real man will will miss him. PROOF, when i first heard about his death i didnt want to believe it because it was disturbing and he will allways be remembered by his family, friends and his fans. his lyrics in most of his songs had a really gud flow 2 it and it was under rated and the person who wished for his death should remeber the saying of "WHAT GOES AROUND, COMES AROUND". I got the news with extreme shock, am a diehard fan for the d12 group, and loosing proof is like one has sliced a part of my heart. I will miss his "Golden Voice" in all the songs he raped. Its time we black realize that we are one, we are family and killing each other is not the answer. May his souls rest in Peace and will be remembered by all his fans. onem more thing, let’s celebrate his life also, though his gone.
