Biggie lands number 1 on the charts, Dallas Austin dreams of f*ckin an R&B b*tch and Kim Kardishian makes my week.
Allow me to re-introduce myself. You’ve probably seen my name throughout the site in a couple of articles I’ve written but let me tell you a little bit more about what I do. I’ve been around from Studios to Labels, intern to assistant to Promotions at Kanye’s G.O.O.D Music, now my business card reads A&R for Street Radio Music.
Ok, so recently I’ve added Gym Class Heroes, The Killers and Amy Winehouse to my CD collection. I Still love hip-hop so don’t get it twisted. (Without it I don’t know what I’d be doing. I don’t even want to think about what I would be doing.) You got rappers and producers switching up their styles so I respect everyone who’s staying true to what they’ve been doing since the beginning. I’m not knocking anyone’s music but I miss mine. I grew up pumping Illmatic after my Saturday morning cartoons, I was listening to Wu-tang before I started chasing girls and Mobb Deep before I could understand what they were talking bout. I’m an east coast head. That’s why I respect everyone who’s still repping NY.
Speaking of repping NY, this week Biggie’s Greatest Hits album debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200. For the 10th year anniversary of Big’s passing, besides all the magazine covers, there were more than a couple of mixtape releases. My favorite one hands down is Mick Boogie’s Unbelievable hosted by Mr. Diddy himself. This has to be one of my favorite mixtapes this year so far. I’ll have that review on my next update week.
In some really amazingly great news, I heard the sex tape featuring Kim Kardishian (she’s fine as hell, but I still don’t understand how she got the cover of my favorite magazine, Complex) and that guy also known as Brandy’s brother is coming out this week courtesy of Vivid Entertainment.
Now, they say she was fighting it in court to stop it from coming out but I think she was just asking for more money from Vivid. This is probably a publicity stunt, but they can both use it. Maybe I will review the tape and see how it stands up (no pun intended) compared to my other favorite celebrity movies like the Paris Hilton goes after the Super Head title, only to fail horribly and the infamous R. Kelly mistakes the face of a teenage girl for a urinal DVDs. Hey it can happen, (nervous laughter).
In "Producers talking shit" news, there’s a video interview of producer Dallas Austin, best known for his work with TLC, Monica and Michael Jackson, saying that Christina Aguilera and Joss Stone get tracks by performing favors for producers and that him and his mans got down with Christina in return for a couple of joints. I’m also going to post this up in my "Please shut the hell up, stop hating and get a life" section. I think producers shouldn’t be allowed in front of a camera anymore. Kanye fucked it up for ya’ll a long time ago. In other news I am dusting off my MPC and switching it up to R&B/Pop beats. I got tracks, Holla at me Christina !
I’ll be updating every couple of days but for now check out my latest Mixtapes Reviews. I’ll be adding mixtape reviews, news, video footage and a chance for you to follow me as I go through my everyday hustle as I try to make it through this industry, so make sure you check back. Follow me through this abyss we sometimes refer to as the music business as you see everything through my eyes. Think of it as my reality show on paper (not really on paper but you know what I mean).
