DMX in Dog Neglect Controversy
DMX "Thought Caretaker Was Caring For Dogs

DMX is in trouble with the law again after police removed 12 injured and ailing pitbull terriers in a raid on his Arizona home on Friday (24Aug07).

Earl Simmons was shocked to hear police had raided his Phoenix home on Friday and seized 12 distressed pit bulls terriers, who had no food or water. Cops also found the buried remains of three other dogs.

Detectives visited the home and then called one of the rapper’s lawyers and told him that the conditions for the animals at the property needed to be improved or deputies would take action, Arpaio said. The dogs were not being fed or given water.

Rapper DMX’s attorney Murray Richman said that the rapper hired a caretaker to watch the dogs while is out of the country on a tour of various European countries.

"He has not been there for two months," Richman said in a statement. "He hired a caretaker to take care of the property. DMX is currently on tour. He is not in the U.S."

Deputies searching the home of rapper DMX during an investigation into claims of animal cruelty found about a half-pound of suspected illegal narcotics, the Maricopa County sheriff said Saturday.

No charges have been filed against DMX and the investigation is on going. Sheriff Joe Arpaio said the investigation into alleged animal cruelty was ongoing, and the suspected drugs were being tested to confirm their content.
