DMX Pleads Guilty To Arizona Charges

DMX entered a guilty plea on Tuesday (December 30) in a Phoenix, Arizona court for charges of animal cruelty, theft and felony possession of marijuana and a narcotic drug.

DMX, real name Earl Simmons, is due to be sentenced at a hearing on January 30 where he is expected to receive a minimum of 90 days in jail with no credit for time served.

The theft charge stems from an incident in April in which Simmons was arrested for allegedly using someone else’s name and social security number to avoid paying a $7,500 medical bill after receiving treatment at a Scottsdale hospital, while the animal cruelty charges originate from the August 2007 raid on his Arizona home by authorities investigating reports of animal abuse who discovered three dead dogs, guns, ammunition and drug paraphernalia.
