DMX is no longer signed to Def Jam Records
DMX has announced that he is no longer signed to Def Jam Records. When he finishes his 70-day stretch at Rikers Island, the Yonkers native will be a Sony Music recording artist. DMX is said to have cut all ties with Def Jam when Jay-Z was appointed as president of the label.
Speaking on the Angie Martinez radio show on New York’s Hot 97 earlier this week, DMX discussed the rumour that he was going to sign with 50 Cent’s G-Unit Records. The rapper dismissed the rumour and added that he didn’t know where it came from as he has never spoke to 50 or anyone from G-Unit about it and a move to the label wouldn’t fit his image.
In his career, DMX has had
five number 1 albums and recorded a sixth with Def Jam entitled "Here We
Go Again," which was set for release this year and has since been placed
on indefinite hold.
