Is dropping on the same day the only marketing plan for rappers these days?
Don’t get it wrong: we love Cassidy and think he’s a dope rapper but after the 50 Cent vs Kanye charts battle, we have already seen Timbaland planning another soundscan battle with Dr Dre and now we have Cassidy return album B.A.R.S dropping the same day than Jay-Z American Gangster on November, 6.
The first singles off Jay-Z American Gangster have been getting good reviews but Cassidy thinks that this album is not as anticipated as any of Hov’s classics.
"It ain’t like when [The Blueprint] Vol. 1 or Vol. 2 was gonna drop, it’s a lot different," Cass said.
He added: "I think right now, the way that I got the hood on smash and the way that my song is poppin’ off, I don’t think it would be a smart decision for Hov to drop on November 6."
The Full Surface artist also compared his release date with the recent 50 Cent and Kanye West face off: "The same way that Kanye and 50 both benefited from dropping on the same day, I think if I drop with somebody as legendary as Hov, I can’t do nothing but benefit from that," Cass said. "I’m happy that Hov, a person that really takes lyricism seriously, is coming back out again."
Cassidy recently killed rumors of a freestyle battle with Joe Budden by saying that the only emcee fit to battle him was himself.
The Barry Adrien Reese Story (b.a.r.s.) drops on november, 6 and you can listen to Cassidy latest track called I don’t give a F*** on our audio section.
