Busta Rhymes Gets 3 Years Probation
Busta Rhymes appeared in Manhattan Criminal Court yesterday (March 18) where he was sentenced for two assault cases dating back to 2006.
Judge Larry Stephens sentenced Rhymes, real name Trevor Smith, to 3 years probation and 10 days of community service after he pleaded guilty to an assault on a fan in August 2006, attacking his former driver in December 2006, two driving infractions and weapons possession.
Smith dropped his innocent plea back in January avoiding trial and a possible one year stretch in prison.
Stephens told Rhymes that he would face jail if he fails to abide by the conditions of his probation.
"I have no problem being a good dude because that’s what I am," Rhymes said outside the courtroom.
The rapper was
fined $1,250 plus court costs for driving with a suspended license in 2006 and
driving while intoxicated in 2007 and must now take part in an anti-drunk driving
program.
