Review :
The Alchemist is back behind the boards spinning gold with No Days Off.
With a Hip Hop pedigree that goes back to the Golden Era of the early 90s Al
is one of the most recognizable producers to ever lay down a beat thanks to
his ability to transform a common sample into pure audio emotion. How does a
white boy from the right side of the tracks go on to be a producer of choice
for the thugged out rappers of the Queensbridge projects ? Love of the game and
pure talent. The Alchemist got his start in 1993, as one-half of the duo Whooliganz.
He laced Cypress Hill, House of Pain, and Funkdoobiest with beats before unleashing
his sound on Dilated Peoples’ Platform. When Dilated debuted
in 1998 they were an underground sensation creating a huge buzz about the man
behind those incredible beats. In 1999, DJ Muggs from Cypress Hill introduced
Al to his good friends Mobb Deep.
Al produced two songs for their Murda Muzik album. Impressed by his production skills and street smarts, Mobb Deep took him under their wing, using his beats on all their subsequent albums. With The Alchemist’s profile rising he went on to lay down tracks for some of Hip Hop’s most successful and prominent artists such as Nas, Fat Joe, Jadakiss, Ghostface Killah and Snoop Dogg. Now The Alchemist returns and as always he’s assembled a stellar crew. The No Days Off crew includes Ras Kass, Prodigy, Xzibit, Tha Dogg Pound, Obie Trice, Kokane, Evidence and more..
