Akon new album Dark and Light Shadows coming soon

Singer, rapper, and producer Akon is done with his new album, Dark and Light Shadows, but he’s still promoting his platinum 2004 debut, Trouble. MTV.com reports that Akon recently shot a video for the set’s fifth and final single, "Pot Of Gold." Akon explained, "’Pot of Gold’is the biggest record on the album to me. It’s pretty much about that one place that you go when you’re going through a lot to get away. There’s been a whole bunch of tragedies, a whole bunch of natural disasters going on in the world, and I feel like ’Pot of Gold’is the perfect record to put out to close out the album."

In addition to the new album, Akon has several other projects scheduled for 2006 including shooting his first movie, Trouble, which will be released through his own Konvict Films, as well as assisting his Konvict Music recording artist T-Pain with his career.

Akon said, "We’ve got the Konvict Records popping off — it’s doing very well. I’ve got my own diamond line that I’m about to start launching in February, so definitely look forward to that. And then of course we’re gonna get into Konvict Films. We’ll be doing movies based on gangstas locked up in prison and presenting their whole life stories and where they’re at now, so kids can watch it and not make the same mistake and end up in that same position."

Just read the article about Akon ?€™s Konvict films. I think that ?€™s a very postive thing to do, in terms of enlightening youth on what it is like in prisons. I teach an afterschool program focused on music production, where I train HS and middle school students how to use beat machines, samplers, sequencers, synthesizers not only to make beats, but to make jingles and psa ?€™s with those beats. Sure they are working on demos, but the primary focus of the class is to teach them a vocation and prepare them for either the workforce or college. I think it would be interesting to see my youth submit tracks to Konvict Records/Films to see if Akon may be interested in utilizing production for the soundtrack/score. Do you have contact information, or someone that you could refer me to that ?€™s on Akon ?€™s team ?

Akon the best thing that has come onto the radio in a long time. He sings music that inspiered me to stop and think about the choices I’ve made in the past and try to change my self for better. Sure I had girl troubles that really brought me down. And sure "Loney" just made it worse, but it was songs like "Pot of gold" and "Getto" (for instacnce)that helped me look at things from another point of view. Now I’m better than I have ever been. I’m working on getting out of the group home I’m in and graduating. Thanks :)

Just read the article about Akon’s Konvict films. I think that’s a very postive thing to do, in terms of enlightening youth on what it is like in prisons. I teach an afterschool program focused on music production, where I train HS and middle school students how to use beat machines, samplers, sequencers, synthesizers not only to make beats, but to make jingles and psa’s with those beats. Sure they are working on demos, but the primary focus of the class is to teach them a vocation and prepare them for either the workforce or college. I think it would be interesting to see my youth submit tracks to Konvict Records/Films to see if Akon may be interested in utilizing production for the soundtrack/score. Do you have contact information, or someone that you could refer me to that’s on Akon’s team ?
