| G-Unit artists will release their next albums through EMI |
After leaving Interscope Records, 50 Cent’s famous crew G-Unit has now officially inked a marketing and distribution deal for its roster of artists.
The first album scheduled to hit the shelves is Lloyd Banks with his much anticipated Hunger For More 2. For the pleasure of Banks fans his album is due out for a November 23 release.
Next is Tony Yayo who sould drop his second album in early 2011.
"We are delighted to join forces with G-Unit and artists who are truly marquee names in hip-hop. G-Unit is a huge force. Lloyd Banks knows how to deliver a lyrical punch and his single has already generated huge anticipation for the album.. Tony Yayo is a totally unique talent, and ’Pass the Patron’ already has the hip hop world buzzing about his album coming out next year," said Mike Harris, executive Vice President/General Manager for EMI.
This ends months of speculation as to where G-Unit would wind up after its deal with Interscope was up. Industry-watchers thought that G-Unit might sign with Def Jam, where former cohort Sha Money XL holds a position as Executive Vice President.
Affiliated artists like Mazaradi Fox, singer Governor and Spider Loc are believed to still be part of G-Unit and should benefit from this deal.
