50 Cent has apparently gone to court over his child support contributions to ex-girlfriend Shaniqua Tompkins for their son, Marquise.
"It was just getting so out of hand. It was driven by greed. He felt it was necessary to get a court order making clear just what his responsibility is. He took matters into his own hands. It’s usually the woman who files. But he wants to do the right thing," an unidentified friend of 50 told the Daily News. "50 has always provided for his kid. His son’s mother is now making unreasonable demands, which seem to have no limits."
50 Cent had a four-year relationship with Shaniqua in the late 90s, resulting in the birth of their son, Marquise, in 1997.
The rapper and his ex-girlfriend previously agreed privately on a child support agreement which increase after the rapper shot to fame in 2003. Tompkins is now asking for more money, prompting Jackson to seek legal action.
"Curtis puts his son’s needs first. His son is well loved and taken care of. Anything else is a private family and legal matter," said Cindi Berger, spokeswoman for 50.
Sources are currently speculating that Shaniqua Tompkins just wants more money from the G-Unit boss as she recently hired upscale lawyer, Raoul Lionel Felder, who told the Daily News, "Ms. Tompkins is going to get more than fifty cents, I can tell you that."
