Fifty sold 1 millions units during the first week following the release of his last album The Massacre while 860 000 fans of Kanye copped Late Registration in the same 7 days cycle.

On the one hand you have the biggest selling Hip Hop artist of the last years who is also a marketing genius that has build his G-Unit empire including a record label, clothing line, vitamin water endorsement etc. and who wants to drop another very successful album. On the other hand, you have one of the hottest producer out there, backed by Rocafella Records and Jay-Z, who is eager to become one of the top MC.

As you know, Fifty has a strong production team around him and is a beast when it comes to viral marketing and promotion. After dropping 2 not so successful singles with Straight to the Bank and Amusement Park, 50 Cent is finally making some waves with his latest offering : the street banger I get it [I run NY] and She wants it produced by Timbaland and featuring Justin Timberlake.

When it comes to Kanye West, everybody knows him through major hits such as Golddigger, and when you listen to his latest singles Can’t tell me nothing or Stronger you know that he kept some of his production jewels for his Graduation album. Kanye is known as an MC but contrary to 50 he also produces his music and this is what makes him a top artist and builds anticipation for his album.

50 Cent appeared on BET’s 106 & Park countdown show on Friday to promote his new album Curtis. During the show he accepted an offer from hosts Terrance J. and Rocsi to engage Kanye West in a presidential style "debate" to decide who has the best album by discussing production, lyrics, videos off both albums.

"I accept the challenge," 50 Cent told millions of viewers on Friday (August 3). "Kanye, he’s not going to want to show up. Just don’t be asking me if I am a conscious rapper. I know exactly what I am saying - so I am conscious."

If Kanye were to accept the challenge, the two rappers would appear live on the show to debate who has the best album.

While 50 Cent claimed that Def Jam President Jay-Z would switch Kanye’s release date, Jay-Z himself shot the notion down and welcomed the competition by saying : "I think it’s great, I think it’s a fantastic day for hip-hop. I remember having those dates [facing against] Outkast a couple of times. I actually had one with G-Unit [with Beg for Mercy]. It’s great. It’s a fantastic thing for hip-hop, especially retail. I know they’re loving it. You’re driving people to the store. We love it, we think it’s a fantastic thing."

According to our poll to our Hip Hop Galaxy readers, you’ll rather cop Kanye’s album (45%) than Curtis from 50 Cent (38%) while 17% are real Hip Hop fans and will go cop both albums.

Update on 08/08 : 50 is now leading the poll with 50% of voters buying his album and 35% for Kanye.
