Album Sales are up for the two Artists since January
If you were wondering what could be the impact of the highly publicized beef between Rick Ross & 50 Cent, we now have some figures thanks to a report from Billboard.
Of course both artists are going to benefit from the attention garnered by their beef when their next albums will be released but the real winner is none other than Universal Music Group, which owns Island Def Jam and Interscope, the labels the rappers are signed to.
Since January, the sales of Rick Ross’ two previous albums have increased by 62%, while sales of 50 Cent’s three catalog titles grew by 74%, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
This growth in sales is directly related to the beef that was covered by hundreds of blogs, websites and media in the past 4 months. So for all those who think that an internet buzz cannot translate into sales, you’ll better think about it once again.
And now, Rick Ross, who had big issue when his CO past was revealed, is expected to top next week’s Album Sales chart, with between 150-160k in sales for his third album, Deeper Than Rap, and first for his new Maybach Music Group through Def Jam after a pair for Slip-N-Slide. His last two albums both debuted at #1.
