50 Cent Retiring in 2008 ? Says Cam’ron is Bringing Diplomats Down
50 Cent has made the shock announcement that he plans to release his final studio album in 2008.
While speaking to MTV this week the rapper revealed he will release two more albums ("Curtis" on June 28 and "Before I Self-Destruct" on February 4) and a greatest hits album.
"I already recorded 10 tracks for my next album, ’Before I Self-Destruct,’ and that record will come out February 4," 50 Cent told MTV. "So ’Curtis’ (is released) June 26, (’Before I Self-Destruct’) February 4... and then they’re gonna put out a greatest hits album but my album requirements are completed."
While 50’s comments may look like retirement confirmations, rumours have been circling the internet recently that the G-Unit head is looking to complete his contractual obligation with Interscope and take his G-Unit Records label elsewhere.
In a separate interview 50 Cent also address his recent beef with Cam’ron, responding to Cam’s recent poolside video in which the Diplomats leader took more shots at 50 Cent, wearing what appeared to be his vest and underpants he also downplayed the rumoured altercation with New York rapper Tru-Life.
"It doesn’t make sense," 50Cent said. "For him to shoot a video message in front of his pool in underwear, it doesn’t make sense. I think he’s delusional. For him to make any financial reference, being in the financial space he’s in and where I’m at financially, doesn’t make sense. He’s just upset, he’s angry."
"He’s mad because he knows the perception of him and his situation," 50 added. "He’s doing more damage to his crew than I could ever do. He’s put them in a real awkward situation with his choices. When they had momentum, they had Jimmy out there doing records, Juelz was out there, they was doing good. Then they let this guy out there and look what happened. It’s gonna be a ’hot summer.’ What is he talking about? I’m waiting for the summer."
50 also mocked Cam’ron for attempting to diss him by using his birth name.
"He’s delusional,"
50 reiterated. "For a person to think that calling you the name your mom
gave you at birth is disrespectful is beyond belief. He’s punished himself more
than I can punish him. He’s made a fool of himself. There’s nobody asking me
about Cam’ron.
... I think people lost interest in it, based on the situation. He’s not even
relevant. You’re talking about a guy who sold 270,000 [copies] his last record.
I sold 9.8 million my last record. I’m not going to exhaust my audience by talking
about somebody they have no interest in."
